Traveling Pops Shireen and I are always on the lookout for those special places that just ooze romance. Whether it’s a milestone anniversary, a honeymoon, or just a much-needed getaway, finding the right destination can make all the difference. So, we wanted to share some of our absolute favorite romantic spots around the globe, from classic love nests to hidden gems and thrilling adventures – plus a few personal stories from our own travels!

From stunning rice terraces and ancient temples to world-class surfing and vibrant nightlife, there’s no shortage of things to do. Shireen and I loved exploring the cultural heart of Ubud, visiting the sacred monkey forest, and taking a traditional Balinese cooking class. We also spent some time on the beaches in Seminyak, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and the beautiful sunsets. Romantic gesture: A flower petal bath in your hotel room is a classic Balinese experience. Don’t miss: A traditional Balinese dance performance – the costumes and the music are mesmerizing.

* Singapore: While not traditionally thought of as a “romantic” destination, Singapore surprised us with its charm. This modern city-state is incredibly clean, efficient, and offers a unique blend of cultures and experiences. We loved exploring the Gardens by the Bay, with its Supertrees and Cloud Forest, and taking a romantic stroll along the Marina Bay waterfront. The food scene in Singapore is incredible – from hawker stalls to Michelin-starred restaurants, there’s something for every palate. Our favorite memory: Watching the Spectra light and water show at Marina Bay Sands – it was a truly spectacular and romantic experience. * Paris, France: Okay, it’s a cliché, but clichés exist for a reason! Paris truly lives up to its reputation as the City of Love. Strolling hand-in-hand along the Seine, sharing a flaky croissant under the Eiffel Tower (we did this on our first trip together!), and getting lost in the charming Montmartre district – it’s pure magic. We even stumbled upon a tiny jazz club tucked away in a basement and had the most romantic evening. Trust us, even if you think you’re not into “romance,” Paris will win you over.
* Venice, Italy: Imagine gliding through winding canals in a gondola, serenaded by a gondolier (yes, we did that too!). Venice is like something out of a fairytale. The tiny bridges, the colorful buildings, the delicious pasta – it’s all so incredibly romantic. We loved getting lost in the maze of streets and discovering hidden squares. Pro-tip: grab some gelato and find a quiet spot by the water to watch the sunset. Pure bliss.

* Santorini, Greece: Those iconic blue-domed buildings against the backdrop of the Aegean Sea? Absolutely breathtaking. You can celebrated your anniversary or any other special occasion in Santorini , it was pure paradise. You can stay in a little villa with a private plunge pool overlooking the caldera, and enjoy the sunsets which are simply unreal. You can rent an ATV and explored the island, discover hidden beaches and charming villages. Definitely a trip yo’ull never forget.
* Kyoto, Japan: If you’re looking for a different kind of romance, Kyoto is the place to be. The serene gardens, ancient temples, and traditional tea ceremonies create a sense of peace and tranquility that’s perfect for couples. You can wander through the bamboo forest in Arashiyama and visit the Fushimi Inari shrine with its thousands of red gates. It’s a truly magical place.
For the Adventurous Couple (Like Us!):
* Iceland: Okay, this one is for the adventurous souls. Iceland’s dramatic landscapes, geothermal hot springs, and (if you’re lucky) the Northern Lights, make for an unforgettable romantic experience. You can road-trip around the island, hike to waterfalls, and soak in the Blue Lagoon. Seeing the Northern Lights dance across the sky would be one of the most incredible things you’ll ever experience. It’s definitely a trip that will bring you closer as a couple.
* Tanzania, Africa: If you and your partner love wildlife, a safari in Tanzania is an absolute must. We went on safari for our wedding anniversary , and it was the most incredible adventure. Seeing lions, elephants, and giraffes in their natural habitat was awe-inspiring. We even took a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti – talk about romantic! It’s an experience that will stay with you forever.
Luxury and Pampering (Because Sometimes You Need It):
* Mauritius: Overwater bungalows, turquoise waters, and pristine beaches – the Mauritius is the epitome of luxury and romance. We spent a few days in a private bungalow, snorkeling, swimming, and just relaxing. It’s the perfect place to unwind and reconnect as a couple. Plus, who can resist those stunning sunsets?
